What can I expect from these companies?
Every transport company that we work with, runs
their company on an individual basis with different ways of
contacting customers. Some Auto Transport Companies will call
customers who have requested a quote. Some will wait for the
customer to call them after they have reviewed their quote.
We have hand-selected each of our Transport
Companies very carefully and are very comfortable with their ability
to give you the best possible service in the industry. Each
broker/carrier has earned a reputation in the industry as a top
broker/carrier, but you should still use due diligence to review
each broker prior to booking your vehicle.

What is the difference between using a
broker/carrier and locating your own transport carrier?
Due to the high volume of automobiles being
transported, it is difficult for consumers to locate a transport
carrier who is on the exact route they need for the transport of
their vehicle. An auto transport broker/carrier has access to
thousands of carriers nationwide. They will verify the carrier has
the proper authority and insurance prior to your vehicle being
picked up. A broker/carrier also maintains communication with the
transport carrier during the transport of the vehicle, which allows
the customer to relax during the process.

How do I know you are using legitimate
brokers?

broker/carriers through personal relationships and referrals. The
broker/carriers have been carefully evaluated on there reputation
and integrity to assure your confidence. Every broker/carrier that
we do business with remains in compliance with the Federal Motor
Carrier Safety Administration and keep a good standing with the
Better Business Bureau.
Feedback from you is our best insurance on
keeping top quality brokers/carriers within our referral program.
Please e-mail us with good and bad experiences that you have had at

Is the consumers auto insurance primary or
secondary?
There is no such thing as secondary and primary.
Most carriers hold $700,000 to $1,000,000 combined single limit and
$250,000 per incident. This insurance covers damage done to your
vehicle once it has been picked up, and removed from the transport truck (in transit) - there is no other insurance. The auto transport
carrier is the main and only coverage.
Exception: Automobile personal contents are not
covered by any carrier insurance and in most cases if lost, stolen,
or otherwise will not be covered. We strongly recommend that you do
not transport personal belongings in you automobile.

Should a consumer pay more money for a lower
insurance deductible?
Absolutely not! - Most carriers have deductibles
between $200 and $2,000. Regardless of damage done to a vehicle you
should never have to pay a deductible either way. If a carrier
requests additional fee for deductible they are only attempting to
get a higher price.

What is the best size carrier to transport a
vehicle on? (3, 5, 6, 8, or 10 car carrier)
The actual truck/trailer size does not matter.
Sometimes you will get faster service with the smaller carrier.
However that is not always the case. This is a judgment call if you
feel confident in your transporter selection then the size does not
matter.

How long should an auto transport take?
Shipping time all depends on the transporter,
weather, road conditions, etc. Listed below are some very basic
ideas to help you along. Make sure however you contact your
broker/carrier for their actual scheduled times.
-
East Coast to West Coast -
approx. 7 to 14 days
-
Midwest to East Coast -
approx. 5 to 8 days
-
South to the North -
approx. 5 to 8 days
All shipping times are estimated and do not base
your transport on these examples without first contacting your
broker/carrier for assistance.

Why does a truck (S.U.V) shipment cost more
than a regular sedan?
Shipments are based on weight that a truck can
legally carry. This is why there is a small price difference between
$50.00 and $200.00 for a regular truck or SUV.

What type of paperwork do I need to ship my
vehicle? Insurance, Title, Registration, etc.
All that is required for your shipment is a
signature and walk around with the driver at pick up. This will also
be done at delivery. This walk around will allow you and the driver
to verify if any damage exists at pick up and delivery.
The only time that you will need to give the
driver any Insurance, Title, Registration, etc. is when your vehicle
is being shipped out of the country or Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or US
Territory.

How is a transport supposed to work?
You should receive a call from the transport
carrier anywhere from 10 to 48 hours in advance of your pick up
date. The driver will arrive, review the vehicle with you and load
it on the truck. The reverse happens at time of delivery. If your
vehicle has been lowered or has a high clearance, it is your
responsibility to notify the broker/carrier and the transport
carrier prior to arrival of the transport carrier. If they are not
notified the transport carrier may refuse to take your vehicle or
will want a liability waiver from you to hold them harmless if there
is any damage.

What should a consumer do if their vehicle
arrives with damage?
The first thing you should do is make sure the
driver understands that the damage is new and was not on the
original bill of lading. The damage should clearly be marked and
noted, then signed for by the driver. Upon completion of delivery a
call should placed to your broker/carrier to inform them of the
damage. In most cases the carrier will ask for an estimate and send
you payment in a couple weeks. If the carrier is not responsive and
unwilling to work with you to resolve the issue make sure you
contact their insurance company and make a claim. Be sure however
you have all the documentation to back up your claim. False claims
can result in legal action by the broker/carrier or transport
carrier or both.

How does a pick up date-window work?
When a transport carrier or broker/carrier
mentions pick up window they are referring to the time surrounding
your pick up date. For instance, some shippers may have a 14 day
window; that way they can up pick your vehicle between 7
days before and after your pick up date.
Beware of lower-priced carriers.
They will not specify their pick up dates. You
may receive an outstanding price on pickup or delivery. You may not
see your vehicle for 4 or 5 weeks. It is very important to make sure
the transporter you use can get your vehicle within a reasonable
time frame.
Should I pay a deposit when I book my
transport?
You should be willing to give a credit card
number at time of booking. You need to make sure that it not being
charged until your vehicle is dispatched. If you choose to pay by
other means the broker/carrier may negotiate those funds to secure
there payment as it takes longer to process.

What can I do to help educate myself before
selecting a broker?
At We Transport Autos, we strongly suggest that
you interview brokers and carriers. This helps you better choose the
broker and carrier to fit your needs. Every broker should have an MC#
displayed somewhere on their website. You can search by their MC# at
SaferSys.org
to review their record.
